Friends of the John Rylands

Meet at 5.45pm for 6.15pm. the John Rylands Library, Deansgate, Manchester.

The AGM will be followed by a look at the Stanbrook Abbey Press Archive, with John Hodgson, Keeper of Manuscripts and Archives in the John Rylands Library.

The Stanbrook Abbey Press is run by an enclosed community of nuns and is the only Private Press from the late nineteenth century to have survived down to the present day. It has a unique place in the history of printing. The Library recently  acquired a  major collection of  books,  pamphlets and minor pieces from the Press, with generous funding from the Friends.
