Chris Perkins is Senior Lecturer in Geography in the University School of Environment and Development with research interests in Maps and Society. He is formerly University Map Curator and is responsible with Dr Martin Dodge for organising the Mapping Manchester exhibition running from June to December 2009 in Rylands.
Maps tell a rich variety of different urban stories. This talk illustrates many of the ways in which Manchester has been mapped in the past and explores how and why these themes continue to resonate in the contemporary city. It also gives an opportunity for a guided visit to the Mapping Manchester exhibition.
